What size should an email GIF be?
There's no hard limit, but email is mostly read on phones, often on mobile data. A common rule of thumb is to keep GIFs under about 1 MB. Most email templates are 600 px wide, so anything wider is just extra weight. The Email preset resizes to 600 px wide and targets 950 KB.
Design for Outlook's first frame
Outlook on Windows desktop shows only the first frame of an animated GIF. Put your key message or product in frame one, and keep your call-to-action as live text or a button in the email itself.
